2021 PROGRAMS: See the Activities Calender under Programs

2019 was a busy year.  We went on 5 trips, hosted 7 floral arranging workshops, had two summer workshops making live succulent wreaths and hypertufa planters, had a beautiful pot-luck dinner at Tyrone Farm in Pomfret, had several socials, and two plant swaps.

2020 started out with lots of activities.  In January, Bill Reid from The Last Green Valley gave a wonderful program about our local forests.  In February, Dr. Jessica Lubell from UConn presented a program on replacing landscape plantings with native pollinator plants that can easily take the place of traditional non-native shrubs.  In March the entire club had a floral workshop taught by Trish Manfredi from Federated Garden Clubs of CT.  We had two winter floral arranging workshops at Symphony Flower Farm, made trips to the Flora in Winter Exhibit at the Worcester Art Museum and to Tower Hill Botanic Garden, and volunteered and attended the CT Flower Show in Hartford.

During the summer we held outdoor events.  In June, we had an outdoor Spring Plant Swap and a tour of an amazing garden in Woodstock.  In July we had a tour of a fabulous garden in Pomfret.  In September we held a Fall Plant Swap.  Since September, we have resumed programs.

This fall we held hybrid educational programs which included meeting in-person in limited numbers while live-streaming and video recording for later viewing.  We learned about improving soil, seed saving, introduction to bonsai, and creating outdoor holiday planters.  We took off January and February and have resumed programs using Zoom.
